What I Likely Noticed (The Immediate Payoffs)
1. No More “Slimy” Towels, Just Fluffy Ones
Fabric softener works by coating fibers with a waxy lubricant. Vinegar does the opposite—it strips away residue. After just one or two washes, your towels probably felt much more absorbent and fluffy instead of slippery and flat. If you wipe a glass with a vinegar-washed towel, it actually dries the glass instead of smearing a film.
2. Workout Clothes Actually Lost the Funk
Synthetic athletic wear traps body oils and bacteria, and softener seals that smell in. White vinegar is mildly acidic, which helps dissolve the alkaline body soils and kills odor-causing bacteria.
